September 2015 marks the fourth global World Alzheimer’s Month™, an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge stigma.
Alzheimer associations around the world will focus their campaigns on advocacy and awareness with information provision, Memory Walks, media appearances and free memory screenings taking place across the globe.
The theme for World Alzheimer’s Month 2015 is ‘Remember Me’, encouraging people all around the world to learn to spot the signs of dementia, but also not to forget about loved ones who are living with dementia, or those who may have passed away.
Staff members from the Barrie & Community Family Health Team are teaming up with the Alzheimer Society Simcoe County by hosting a Coffee Break®. Coffee Break® is the Alzheimer Society’s major nationwide annual fundraiser where friends, co-workers and customers gather in communities across Canada to raise funds for local Alzheimer Societies. Participants at these events make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. The money raised stays in our community to help support local programs and services.
This year’s Barrie & Community Family Health Team’s Coffee Break® for the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County will be held on Thursday September 17th from 9 am to 11 am at the following locations:
190 Cundles Road East Barrie Main Lobby
5 Quarry Ridge Rd Barrie Main Lobby
