Quick Start to a Healthier You
Information Session

Are you ready to start improving your health? The session focuses on the many lifestyle factors that influence body weight such as portion sizes, meal timing and balance, stress, sleep, fluids, medication, movement and more. The session is led by a Barrie and Community Family Health Team Registered Dietitian.

What will I learn during this Information Session?

The session will assist you to set goals to start making personal lifestyle changes. You will have a greater understanding of what the body requires to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight and how to implement these lifestyle changes. This course consists of a 1.5 hour session that reviews the foundations to nutrition and a healthy diet, including recommendations for weight management. You will also learn about other lifestyle factors that impact our health and wellbeing and that can reduce our risk of chronic disease.

This course is a pre-requisite for patients wishing to address weight-related concerns on an individual basis with one of our Registered Dietitians.

Program Goals

  • To learn the factors involved in promoting a healthy mind and body.
  • To understand proper portion sizes and meal balance.
  • To increase participants’ awareness about areas in their life that can be modified to reduce the risk of chronic disease.
  • To understand what’s needed to change and help keep a positive change going forward – goal setting and motivation.

Who can attend?

Any patient belonging to the Barrie and Community Family Health Team is welcome to attend along with a spouse, partner or support workers.
