Label Reading Information Session

What is the first thing you look for on a food package label? Ever wonder what all those numbers and percentages mean?  The Label Reading information session will help answer all your questions and make label reading simple and easy.  This session is for everyone – those who just want to be able to read and understand a label better, those with a chronic disease such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes as well as those who may be overweight.  This session will give you the tools you need to improve your health.

What will I learn during this Information Session?

This session will review and explain all the components of a food label, why some foods don’t have a label, what the government regulations for labeling are and the rules around nutrition claims listed on a label. You will learn about the dietary recommendations for the nutrients listed and what the percentage daily value means.

Following the session you will be able to:

  • Compare food products more easily
  • Feel more confident managing special diets
  • Know exactly what is in the food products you are buying and eating.
